Hoole Engraving Works is one of America's oldest companies, and we are the world's oldest continually operating brass finishing tool makers, under it's original name. This year - 2012, marks 180 Years of Excellence for Hoole Engraving Works! Since 1832, Hoole has maintained a legacy of offering beautiful solid brass and bronze embossing designs for bookbinders, furniture makers, and leather workers of all types. We proudly offer a suite of over 3,000 unique designs! Our tools are manufactured from high quality solid brass, and the architectural elements of the tools (the brass shanks, wooden handles, yokes, etc.) follow the fine, historic styles envisioned by our Founder, John R. Hoole in Manhattan, New York in 1832. |

to Hoole Engraving Works!
Hoole
finishing tools offer many advantages over other tools of this type. Hoole
brass design rolls are mounted on a single/right or left sided yoke (instead
of a "forked" yoke) and thus provides excellent sighting for
the person tooling the design. The rolls are crafted from solid brass
stock, and are available in up to 3 1/2" in diameter! Hoole design
handle tool stamps are crafted from solid, thick brass to hold heat, yet
very easy to "sight" by the person tooling. The same is true
for Hoole design "pallets", gouges, etc. All of our wooden handles
are crafted from beautiful, solid American soft maple wood. Though other
woods are available. 
Hoole
also offers 'custom' engraving, made from your camera-ready artwork. Or,
for an additional fee, we can do all of the design work for you. We also
offer every design in "strips" for placement in stamping machines,
or "type-high for printing. Just email us your design (and tell us
